Proudly Printing for Wisconsin Since 1954

For more than 70 years, Rooney Printing has delivered exceptional quality, dependable turnaround times, and the confidence that your project is in good hands.

Our History

Rooney Printing was founded by John and Marlene Rooney in 1954 on Taylor Street. The business moved to its current location in the early 1980s and remained under their leadership until 1993, when it was sold to Greg Leland and Dale Zweifelhofer. During their 23-year tenure, Dale became deeply involved in the community, positioning Rooney as a B2B-focused printer and reviving relationships with major clients like Mason Shoe.

Kirk Boettcher and his wife Terry, the longtime bookkeeper, took over next with Dan Webb. As the business grew, Kirk decided to sell rather than scale further.

In June of 2023, William Stuckert purchased Rooney Printing, bringing new energy and investment to the company. With a strong background in printing through his father — Brad Stuckert, the former owner of Documation — William set out to modernize marketing efforts while reinforcing Rooney’s community-first foundation.

A key part of Rooney’s continued success is Dan Webb, who previously owned the business for 7½ years and now plays a critical operational role. Dan’s career reflects the evolution of the printing industry itself — from manual processes to today’s advanced digital and offset technologies. Under Rooney’s leadership, the company has grown from operating a single-color press to a six-color press, continually investing in innovation while honoring traditional craftsmanship. Despite the rise of digital platforms like Kindle and iPad, the demand for high-quality print remains strong.

Throughout its history, Rooney Printing has remained diverse and adaptable — producing everything from business cards and manuals to banners, books, magazines, and custom book covers. A recent acquisition of a Boston-based company, John P Pow Company, doubled production volume and expanded capabilities in high-end book cover manufacturing. New investments, including a state-of-the-art smart binding machine, now automate and streamline complete book production.

Today, Rooney Printing employs 24 team members and remains deeply rooted in the community it has served for more than 70 years. The company’s strategy blends tradition with innovation — delivering everyday print essentials alongside one-of-a-kind custom pieces designed to make clients ask, “How did you do that?”
